POSIX
Portable Operating System Interface A family of related standards that make it possible to create portable applications that run on any Unix operating system. The most recent version, POSIX.1, was jointly developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Open Group, an international industry consortium. It is simultaneously an IEEE Standard, an ISO/IEC Standard, and an Open Group Technical Standard.
