PPP
Point-to-Point Protocol The Internet standard for serial communications between two computers--usually a computer connected to a server via a phone line, although it also works with fiber-optic lines and satellite transmissions. Better than its predecessor, serial line Internet protocol (SLIP), PPP defines how your computer exchanges data packets with other systems on the Internet.
