CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
quadratic texture mapping
This technique, used in 3D video cards based on Nvidia graphics chips, speeds up texture mapping and redrawing by reducing the amount of work required. Nvidia chips use fewer polygons to render an acceptable-looking rounded object. Filling the screen, therefore, takes less time and CPU horsepower than it would using another rendering chip.
