This storage card was developed jointly by SanDisk and Siemens AG/Infineon Technologies AG and launched in 1997. It offers numerous advantages: it's solid-state, removable, and extremely compact. It uses either ROM or flash memory. It's widely used in cell phones, PDAs, GPS devices, and digital video recorders and offers capacities from 64MB and up.
