Mozilla
An open-source Web browser and application framework. Development and testing of the Mozilla product line is carried out by Mozilla.org. Netscape Communications launched the project in 1998, when it made its browser source code available to outside developers and set up Mozilla.org to coordinate development efforts. It continued as an entity within America Online after the online giant bought Netscape; it's currently supported by the nonprofit Mozilla Foundation, which was launched in July 2003 with major funding from AOL, as well as donations from private individuals and companies such as Red Hat and Sun Microsystems.
