CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
The number of times an ad is displayed on a Web page. For example, if a Web page has both top and bottom banner ads, the page has two impressions. Advertisers use impressions to measure how many views their ads receive, and publishers sell ad space according to impressions on a cost-per-thousand (CPM) basis.
