CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
hyperlink
Short for hypertext link, hyperlinks are HTML-coded references that point to other Web pages; in other words, the workhorses of the Web's hypertext method of associating data. You'll most commonly identify hyperlinks as the easy-to-spot underlined words or phrases you click in World Wide Web documents to jump to another screen or page. Hyperlinks are also called anchors.
