digital audio player
A tiny hardware device that plays music files encoded in various formats, including MP3, WAV, and WMA. These devices store the files either on a hard drive or in flash memory. Users carry the devices in a pocket, or perhaps wear them as a pendant, and use earplugs or headphones to listed to the music. A current popular example is Apple's hard drive-based iPod.
