DVI
Digital Visual Interface
A digital interface specification created by an industry consortium, the Digital Display Working Group. This universal standard for connecting flat-panel monitors is also used for data projectors, plasma displays, and digital TVs. Using a DVI connector and port, a digital signal sent to an analog device is converted into an analog signal (if the device is digital, such as a flat-panel monitor, no conversion is necessary). There are three different DVI configurations: DVI-A for analog signals, DVI-D for digital signals, and DVI-I (integrated) for both analog and digital signals.
