This form of dynamic RAM speeds access to memory by making a simple assumption: the next time memory is accessed, it will be at a contiguous address in a contiguous chunk of hardware. This assumption enables EDO RAM to start processing the next request before it finishes the current one, which speeds up memory access times by as much as 10 percent over standard DRAM.
