driver alertness monitoring
Driver alertness monitoring is designed to detect when the driver's ability has become impaired, whether from inattention, drowsiness, or intoxication. A simple system may merely sound an alarm. More complex systems could include warnings of impending collisions or that the vehicle is straying from the roadway.
In some systems, an infrared camera detects eye motion and computes trends that track driver vigilance. Other methods monitor driver performance using lane-marker cameras to detect a wandering vehicle.
