CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
rain-sensitive wipers
Most people lump rain-sensitive wipers into the same category as heated steering wheels as examples of technology run amuck. We're betting that those people haven't tried either one, especially the wipers. The new systems accurately scan the windshield for droplets and react with one pass, intermittently or at full speed, depending on the need. That saves the driver from constantly fiddling with the wiper speed or letting the blades scrape a dry windshield. As for those heated steering wheels, some caught fire, and the upgrade has since fallen out of favor.
