Step Two
Connect your CD player to your MiniDisc. You can make a traditional analog recording by connecting a cable between your CD player's line out and your MiniDisc recorder's line in. If your CD player is equipped with a digital output, you can make a digital recording to your MiniDisc. In this case, you'd connect a compatible digital cable between your CD player's digital out and the MiniDisc recorder's optical in.

Step Three
Set up your MiniDisc to record. Some MiniDisc recorders have an automatic record level, while others allow you to set your own levels. You may want to do a test recording to be sure that your levels aren't too high.

Step Four
Now that you have everything set up, hit Record on your MiniDisc unit and begin playback on your CD player. If your MiniDisc recorder features synchro-recording mode, it will start recording as soon as it senses input. It will also anticipate the silence between the tracks on your CD and create a new track when the next selection starts.

Step Five
After you're done, play back your newly recorded MiniDisc to test its quality. This is a good time to create a label and a table of contents in order to keep your MiniDisc collection organized.

Tips

• You can record digitally from your PC to your MiniDisc.
• To make sure that the pauses are long enough to force the MiniDisc to separate tracks, hit the Pause button on your CD player briefly when a song ends.
