Motorola Linux line show
By Kent German (July 29, 2005)
Motorola has been making a lot of news as of late. First, the company introduced the must-have Motorola Razr V3 late last summer, then upped the ante in February with a new crop of design-centric phones. Now, the company has added even more to its lineup, unveiling three new cell phones at a press event this week in Chicago. Instead of focusing on style, Moto's latest handsets are more business-oriented. Designed for use in and out of the office, the Motorola A728, A732, and A910 each offer a full range of productivity and multimedia features. And yes, they also make calls. As an added twist, the new cell phones are Linux-based, which will no doubt appeal to open-source fans. In terms of style, they aren't terribly flashy, but they have some unique design elements. The Motorola A728 has a touch screen, while the A732 has a slider design and a keypad that doubles as a touch pad for handwriting recognition. It's unclear yet if these phones will make it to North America (although the A728 is destined for China), so we'll announce pricing and carrier information when we get it. In any case, we'll post full reviews as soon as we can get our hands on these new, slick mobiles.
