Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F828

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F828

The first 8-megapixel camera on the market--no surprise, given that Sony makes the sensor--the F828 wowed users with its relatively wide-angle view (28mm in 35mm terms), its SLR-like feel, and its swiveling body design. The camera remains popular today, even though it's more than 1.5 years old; that's almost geriatric in the fast-moving digital camera industry.
DXO Optics Pro 3
Though lots of photographers love their F828s, two prominent issues mar the shooting experience: intense chromatic aberration--a.k.a. purple fringing--in some situations and noisy images, even at low ISO settings. Though technically not an accessory, this software can help you fix both.
Bower close-up filter kit
The lens on the Sony F828 lets you focus as close as only 23.6 inches at its longest focal length (200mm in 35mm terms); with this set of +1, +2, and +3 diopter filters, you can mix and match to drop that roughly as close as 10 inches. If you just want an inexpensive, basic close-up filter, Sony's VCL-M3358 58mm close-up lens, a +5 diopter, lets you focus as close as 13 inches but with the distortion-free angle of view of the camera's 200mm (35mm equivalent) focal length.
Sony HVL-RLA macro photography ring light
If you spring for the close-up filters, you might as well pick up this pricey flash accessory as well. It provides a soft, diffuse light and is designed to evenly illuminate small objects.
Lowepro Rezo 120 AW
The unique design of the F828 makes it hard to find the appropriate camera bag. This water-resistant model will accommodate the camera and accessories nicely.
Manfrotto 728B Digi
This inexpensive tripod with an attached three-way head and a quick-release plate is suited for enthusiast users with moderately heavy cameras.
SanDisk Memory Stick Pro (1GB)
This well-priced Memory Stick has the capacity you'll need. Since the F828 was one of the first Memory Stick Pro-compatible products, it can't take advantage of the faster media that came afterward.
