The good: Reasonable throughput; browser-based setup; international coverage; offers roaming arrangements with other service providers. The bad: Fewer hot-spot locations than the competition; complicated pricing plans; expensive. |

Review summary |
Wayport makes up for its limited number of hot spots with easy setup, good throughput, and international locations.
By Brian Nadel, March 26, 2003
With only 500 locations in the United States (compared with more than 2,000 for T-Mobile), Wayport might seem like the stepchild of the hot-spot business. But fortunately, the company makes good use of its limited locations, which it peppers evenly throughout the country, reaching places the industry's leader ignores. In addition, Wayport has setups in Canada and Europe. While it can't compete with T-Mobile on the number of locations, overall, it offers good service at a reasonable cost for globetrotters looking for a data fix.
