Ouch--this is a bit of a shocker. The Sony Ericsson T616, the GSM Conference phone of the year, looked to have all the momentum going into this matchup, then went out and took it on the chin. After a close first half, the Windows Mobile-powered Motorola MPx200 pulled away in convincing fashion, joining another Motorola entry, the V600, in the Final Four.

THE FANS SOUND OFF:

• Even though the T616 has been a wonderful, feature-rich phone for more than a year now, the Windows Mobile OS really gives the Moto an edge. Having a phone that feels like your computer and being able to sync are really a boon!--Rachit, Philadelphia

• The fact that the Motorola MPx200 does not have Bluetooth automatically makes the Sony Ericsson T616 a better phone. There is just no cooler or handier feature than Bluetooth. After using a wireless Bluetooth headset to make calls, without having my phone attached to my hip or in my palm, I would not have it any other way. Plus, the camera on the T616 takes amazing pictures! 

• Hmm, expandable memory card vs. 2MB internal, camera vs. no camera, real OS vs. proprietary interface, flip vs. brick, Bluetooth vs. no, $150 vs. $400--the Moto wins in style and advanced technology but at a huge price. Moto has no comparable phone to the T616 at that price. I say, "Yay Sony," for bringing a feature-rich phone to the middle market. Anyone can shove features into a big enough price tag.--Dustin, Seattle

• Without a doubt, it's the Sony Ericsson T616!! What a sexy phone! It has ALL the features you really need and is very well designed. The only phone to get a five-star rating! How can you pick the Motorola over this baby?

• I prefer the T616. The Motorola's software isn't there yet. The caller ID doesn't work well, forcing you to open the flip phone before you know who is on the other end.--Richard, Cambridge

• I personally own the T616 and for many reasons. It looks AMAZING! And it has a camera but weighs only 3.4 ounces. It works wonderfully with Bluetooth, and the joystick control is something that I can't live without. And if you have a Macintosh, this is simply the greatest phone ever.

• The MPx200 may have game, but it doesn't have the fame. The T616 is the MVP of this tournament. The design, the features, and the portability of the T616 is a tough combination to beat. The T616 is a quasi "smart phone" and conveniently fits in a pocket. For all you divas out there, repeat after me: "Size does matter."--John, Watchung, NJ

• The last thing I want haunting my phone is Windows! Plus, if you want a real MP3 player, you're gonna need more than this. However, Bluetooth is far more useful, and let's face it, the T616 has a wonderfully minimalist, lovely design. Something about it makes it stand out.--Hazard, Downers Grove, IL

• The T616 is a good phone, a worthy opponent to the smart but dull MPx200. You can see it in the comeback that T616 has gone from around 10 percent to almost 25 percent against a phone that has the home court advantage.
