Treo 600 fans certainly got a scare in this nip-and-tuck match that looked like it could go either way until the very end. Slick as it is, the Motorola V600 just couldn't get over the hump, though the Treo had to use its entire roster of talent (features) to eke out a victory. The Treo will have to take out another Motorola--and another smart phone--the MPx200, to win it all.

THE FANS SOUND OFF:

• I almost feel bad for the Moto in this case. The Treo is bringing a big gun to this knife fight.

• Convergence devices are the future, and the Treo 600 is there already.  Other than price, why would a working businessperson carry anything else?--Jonathan, New York

• Team Treo cut Bluetooth and Wi-Fi from its roster and is looking to draft only high-resolution devices for next season. With the more versatile SD slot in the lineup playing alongside Palm OS 5 and a full QWERTY keyboard, this candy bar will shut the clam shells and take its place in the display case at tournament's end.--James, Boston

• Being realistic, if I wanted a keyboard, I would use a laptop. The V600 has the essentials along with admirable style and class. It also has an unfailing performance rate--you definitely can not go wrong with Motorola.--Otonye, Lincoln University, PA

• Tough call--both are great, but wireless Web surfing without having to resort to WAP sites and a real keyboard win. Throw in that old favorite Palm OS and you have a real winner. Oh, did I mention expandability and so on? Treo it is.

• Though this could be the first really tough round for the V600, Moto power should see it through to the final.

• Come on--the Treo vs. the V600? The V600 is the best fashion phone on the market. The Bluetooth headset is awesome.

• In a very "EA Sports: Michael Jordan vs. Larry Bird 1-on-1" way, these two competitors will battle until the end, when the Treo nets a last-minute desperation heave from midcourt. The inspiration: thousands of cheering fans from the stands, each waving a software "towel."--Cyrus, San Francisco

• Treo's fan base is certainly helping with those three-pointers.
