With chants of "Treo, Treo, Treo" from the crowd as the clock counted down, the Treo 600 ended the Motorola MPx200's Cinderella run with a smooth, steady performance, as well as a strong inside and outside game. While it put up a valiant effort, the Motorola MPx200 just didn't have enough mojo to overcome the early deficit; the favored Treo jumped out to a 12-point lead and basically sat on it the whole way, never looking back. Congrats to Handspring (now PalmOne) and the fans who supported the much beloved Treo, the TiVo of phones. It was one the favorites to win this year's tournament, and fulfill its promise it did.

THE FANS SOUND OFF:

• The Treo 600 is like Duke in the men's NCAA and the ACC tourneys: virtually completely unstoppable, with a deep understanding of the fundamentals of the sport and a solid game plan. Whether it's playing D or an uptempo game, the Treo 600 gets it done. The only flagrant foul that I can see is the lack of Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth; other than that, it's a clean win for the Treo.--Cyrus, San Francisco

• The Treo is fresh, while the MPx200 is old school. It's like a quarter-mile race against a Ferrari F50 in an old Pinto with its gas cap gone.

• Calling the MPx200 a smart phone is like calling Anna Kournikova a professional tennis player: all look (if even that much), no substance.

• It's simple--the Treo 600 has the keyboard and a reasonable form factor, both of which make it useful in all situations. It is the first cell phone with which you can easily send and receive e-mail and take first-class notes. It also comes with my favorite goody: an MP3 player.--John Chuprinko, Centerburg, OH

• I've owned both devices now. My first Treo had hardware issues, while the second broke after one day. I ditched it as fast as possible for my MPx200. I love it and would never, ever switch back. I need a rugged, reliable PDA/phone.-?Aaron

• The MPx is awesome--best phone on the market for office apps but not as big as the other entry.--Tim, Winnetka, IL

• The Treo 600 should easily destroy the MPx200. A keyboard, Palm OS 5, and a camera--there's no match.

• This is a "no match" game. I've had an MPx200, and now I have a Treo 600. Let me tell you this: the MPx200 is really a bad phone. It is like Windows XP: looks nice and promising but full of bugs. In fact, I used two MPx200s, and I had the same experience. I don't think the MPx200 was ready to hit the market! Nice concept but not quite ready.

• I LOVE my MPx200! I'm not a heavy PDA user, but my schedule is always changing. Keeping my contacts, schedule, and phone synced has saved my life, or at least my carrier. I also prefer that it looks and feels like a phone first instead of a gizmo.

• I can't believe the LG lost, but I don't think the Motorola has what it takes to defeat the Treo.

• One word: keyboard. Unless you've used one, you'll never know how indispensable it is. :)
