Separate floor-standing speakers are the brontosauruses of the home audio universe. They're furniture in their own right, no stand required, and they'll consistently pump out the biggest sound of any full-range speaker, period. Sure, not everyone wants twin towers of power flanking their big-screen TV, but even so, these monsters aren't going extinct anytime soon. If you're composing a system from scratch, be sure to check out our other speaker lists for matching brands.
