Creative Zen Vision:W "leaked"

Creative Zen Vision: W
[+] Enlarge photo
The folks at EpiZenter.net have posted a pic and some details about the rumored Zen Vision:W; this information was actually published in the latest Popular Mechanics magazine. Yes, print media still lives!

Anyway, the W in Zen Vision:W stands for wide screen, as in 4.3 inches and 16:9, compared to the plain old Vision's 4:3 3.7-inch screen. Popular Mechanics apparently loves the portable video player ("plays every format we've thrown at it..."), which comes in 30GB ($399) and 60GB ($499) capacities. That's kind of pricey, actually, for a device that doesn't record video (the 30GB Archos 604 costs $350). Still, we're excited to check out the screen and new features, if any. Stay tuned; we're waiting to hear back from Creative.

Creative and the environment and Chinese workers

I don't want to buy Creative or this product because the company seem to do
very little on environmental issues and seems to have no strong code of
conduct for their suppliers. Anybody seen anything about their policies???

It would be time if someone took a serious look at their supply chain incl.
their Taiwanese contract manufacturers not to speak of their sub-suppliers
and their control of polution. I've spent quite some time in southern China
visiting those electronics factories and you get shocked very often...it's
becoming one big chemical soup and it's like the sun never really shines.

Apple is not perfect but at least they are one of the few seriously doing
something about it. Doing something about it also means they get all the
attention - good and bad.

So hurray for Apple...

Oh My Gosh

Here's my problem with this device and area in the market. Just about every teenager who wants portable video will go "What the heck is this???? What is a Zen????????" If it was called the iPod Movie, everybody would buy it. Apple has too strong of a hold in this "PVP" market. Archos should take the title as best MP3/PVP player. Oh well.

this will be great

teh 30gb is the same price as when teh old ZV came out with 30g and this one has the revamped features. I have a theory, because creative and apple have kissed and made up now i think that creative may package this with itunes, just a theory. All teh same this is worth it since the old vision is still like 375$ so its worth it.

Too expensive!

I recently bought a Vision M for the same price...I don't see why I would want to upgrade to a W and pay double now. If I want a bigger screen view, just purchase the A/V output cable for $20 and walla! The image displays perfect on any TV! Save your money people!!!

Why would I buy this?

I'm sure the technology is great. But what would you watch on it? Several months ago I bought the Zen Vision:M. Recently I wanted to see what videos looked like on it. I figured that, like the iPod, there would be at least a video selection comparable to apple's store; and at best even more video options since I wouldn't have to use a proprietary format. I was stunned to find that the only place to download videos for this thing on the net was cinemanow.com. Am I wrong? Where is the itunes for the Vision:M?

What happened to music?

It's nice that electonic companies are making some nice players, but why is music taking a back seat? That's where these came from, but the focus is turning to video. Why can't someone make a high capacity (30-60 GB) player that just plays music? And has a good battery life? The only strictly music players are 1-4 GB flash drives. No fair. :P

For Widescreen?

IMO, it wouldn't be worth it to pay more money just for a device with widescreen. But that's just me.
