Engadget's posting of an internal Apple e-mail caused quite a stir in the blogosphere--and the stock-o-sphere--yesterday. Listen in to find out why Veronica can't talk about it!

TODAY'S E-MAIL:
Toyota going all hybrid
I agree with Molly. Toyota will have to prize my clutch pedal from my cold, dead foot!

I can't see manual transmission going away anytime soon though. Unlike North America, the majority of cars in Europe are manuals as they suit our roads better, and we learn to drive in manuals.

Love the show,

U.K.

You owe me two dollars
This morning as I parked my car in the commuter lot here in Naperville Illinois, I was listening to the podcast and thought, "Wow, episode 475!" Then when I went to pay for my parking, instead of entering the correct number of my stall, I entered your episode number.

Give me back my two dollars! Or make Veronica say "pew, pew, pew!"

More on the Apple story
Something about that whole Apple/Engadget story was bugging me, and thus I am following up on my previous brief commentary. Those commenting on the situation in message boards/blogs seem to have a shooting-the-messenger mentality. Those schadenfreude posts need to calm down and not indict the highly visible as opposed to the much less visible who actually might have been up to no good.

As I see it, information thought to be genuine was passed along and hubbub ensued. Whether the "memo" was issued from within Apple by a "person in the know" or deviously crafted by an external person for financial gain is something the SEC will probably sort out, given possible evidence of "timely" AAPL stock dealing. As a result, there will be a perception that some people are in deep fecal material. This is most unfortunate, given that for some, this perception truly is undeserved.
