Safari for Windows
Hi, love the show, but you guys missed the point of Safari for Windows.
A couple of folks in the forums nailed it, though. Safari for Windows
targets all of the potential iPhone developers who use Windows.
It was no accident that Steve Jobs announced Safari for Windows
immediately before giving us the iPhone update. Since the "API" of the
iPhone is Safari, phone developers (like me) who work in Windows (like
me) need the development platform.
BTW, did you notice that his pie chart had Safari displacing Firefox,
but not touching IE?
Thanks,
Michael, a software guy from Dallas
So, you guys were talking about Safari on Windows today and forgot to
mention its only redeemable feature: you can pull tabs off into new
windows. Can't wait until Firefox or Camino steals this feature.
Plus, if the Safari user share increases by just 2 percent, it will make
my life a lot easier on the Mac. And another plus, Safari is awesome at
the acid2 test, because that's always a useful Web page to look at.
One more thing, according to most, Safari for windows is just for
Windows web-developers to test iPhone apps.
That was a big ramble--but, great show.

Eye-Fi wireless SD cards
Hey BOL crew,
The other day you mentioned Eye-Fi's wireless SD cards for digital
cameras. I've been an Eye-Fi beta tester for the past few months or so
and can attest to its coolness. There are two flavors of cards: one that
uploads directly to the Internet, and another that transfers pix to your
computer. As Veronica mentioned, pictures CAN be uploaded directly to
Flickr. The only drawback is
that the cards need to be told in advance what SSID to look for, they
need an open Internet connection (so no Starbucks uploads), and they
kind of suck battery life. OK, so that was three drawbacks, but the card
is totally worth the $100, and I only have a 512MB card. Trust me,
they're cool.
Thanks!

P.S. My media center Mac subscribes to Flickr's RSS feeds, so pictures
can be taken and viewed on my TV via the intraweb minutes later. Very
cool!
Bed of money
Hey Veronica and Tom,
Dan doesn't sleep in a bed of money. :) He works his ass off like you.
And if a job's well done, there's no reason for the pay not to be chubby.
We pay US$5.6/gallon here in the EU, around US$1,500 for a new Macbook
and maybe US$700 for the worst rent. Are you still complaining? ;)
Love you guys,
Dan
PS: Plug
my blog, will you? I keep plugging your stuff :)
No flash on the iPhone
Hey Buzz team,
Apple said the iPhone does not have Flash YET. Also to note the PSP
with "full Internet" didn't start out with flash.
Right now I believe the reason for not including flash at the start is
because it is rushed to the market. Updates (in these last few weeks)
are coming to the iPhone daily! And they need to fix/improve key
components before launch, and Flash is not their biggest priority.
Keep up the great work,
Andrew

Data retention with search engines
You guys were questioning the retention time of data with different
Internet companies in episode 493--well, actually, that isn't really
that bad. I work for The UPS Store and when you fill out a PSO (parcel
shipping order) which has your information (address and phone
number) and the receiver's information, we are required to keep it for
six years before they can be shredded/recycled, plus the information
entered into the computer used to create the shipping label is stored
for the life of the hard drive and is either uploaded to a central
address database server or can be queried by other franchise locations.
If you ask me, this is a big chance to be taking with that much
information.
Great job on the podcast. (Internal Error 500 here we come!!!)

Lala
Hey guys,
Just a quick follow up to my call. I don't know about songs bought from
Lala, but the mono upload to my iPod is only songs that were from my
iTunes collection. Sounds like this is their way avoiding trouble as
it's not a 1:1 copy of my songs. I assume purchased Lala songs are in
stereo.
Cheers!
