Buzz Out Loud Show Notes - Google's huevos grande
Posted by: Molly Wood

Molly Wood and Tom Merritt

Today's Buzz
Man, Google--so brazen. They're going to let newsmakers comment on news stories right on the Google News results page. Doesn't that make the Google News site, already the target of angry news organizations that feel their copyrights are being infringed, even more of a news destination on its own? Oh, who knows? I'm sure Google knows what it's doing. In other news, what's Kaboodle again?

TODAY'S VOICE MAIL:
Jeremy the law enforcement officer
They've been using facial recognition since the old west.

Shalin
Have your phone play the last song. And pirate sitcom ideas.

Joe from Maryland
Molly, don't worry; we have nonspecific immunity.

TODAY'S E-MAIL:
Simplify Media
Not sure if you guys have talked about this, as I have been on a well deserved vacation. However, this is cool, it allows you to share your iTunes library with other folks on the Net, but only the ones you allow.

Dave the psychologist

B-town, represent!
In yesterday's podcast (episode 533), you said that there were no laws that prohibited driving with your head down. Well actually, we have a law in Idaho that tickets for inattentive driving. That pretty much covers texting, e-mailing, watching TV, etc. while one drives.

One last note: I miss Veronica on the show. Any chance of luring her back?

Umm...about that Apple rumor...
Tom, Molly, Jason;

Well, that friend of mine who told me about the coming touch screen iMacs also told me that one version of the iPhone would be a slider. I guess he gets the main announcements correct; it's the minor (cough-major-cough) details he seems to screw up. I'll keep this in mind the next time he says, "My boss told me..."

Erik from Tulsa

P.S. I sent this from my iPhone which I love. =P

Equal time for Apple
Tom and Molly,

What's wrong with you two?? You made it sounds like yesterday's Apple announcement was trivial. I'm a recent Mac convert, and I think the new iLife and .Mac stuff was big news. Especially now that .Mac gives me 10 gigs (which is now more than Gmail). Everything you said about Steve Jobs seemed to be mocking him. You seem to give the impression that the only important announcement he could possibly make would be if it were regarding the iPhone or the iPod (although I bet that Tom would secretly love to hear an announcement about Apple TV).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "too bad" of an Apple fanboy now (grin), I just think yesterday proved that without Veronica, no one is there to keep you two in check when you are talking about Apple and Jobs!

We demand equal time!!

Love the show.

The last Mac basher
Hey all,

First, let me say great Netcast. I have had a Windows machine named Dvorak for over two years, but now since Dvorak has switched to the other side, I must start anew. When I reinstall Windows on that machine, I will name it Wood--for Molly--because she rocks. Please keep your sanity, Molly, as I do not want to have to name it Cooley.

Sincerely,
Steve from St. Louis

G4TechTV and CNET TV
Dear Buzz Out Loud (Tom & Molly),

Tonight at 11:30p.m. ET, I saw CNET TV, a half-hour show of different segments. It was the same content as on CNET TV's Web site, Tom introduced the segments, and the new vodcaster (I hate that word) at Mahalo showed her segment at Maker Fair, among others.

I was surprised and excited to see this. It reminded me of the old TechTV. I just wanted to let you guys know about this, and you should let all the other Canadian listeners know that they can catch CNET TV on real broadcast television.

BTW, I love the podcast, and the others CNET produces.

Brendan

Spectaclefest: Finally taken seriously
Dear Web site owner,

If I could get you five times the relevant traffic at a substantially reduced cost, would you be interested? National Positions can place your Web site on top of the natural listings on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Our Search Engine Optimization team delivers more top rankings than anyone else, and we can prove it. We do not use "link farms" or "black hat" methods that Google and the other search engines frown upon and can use to delist or ban your site. The techniques are proprietary, involving some valuable, closely held trade secrets. Our prices are less than half of what other companies charge.

I would be happy to send you a proposal using the top search phrases for your area of expertise. Please contact me at your convenience so I can start saving you some money. Please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me if you would like further information.

Sincerely,
Don Fernandez
