Hello Moto Slvr
Posted by:
Kent German
Attention,
Razr fanatics, the
Motorola Slvr is now available. Equipped with iTunes, the phone is a huge design improvement upon the mediocre
Motorola Rokr, but features are a mixed bag. Although you get Bluetooth and a speakerphone, we're disappointed by some of the other offerings. Also, it inherited the Rokr's annoying iTunes restrictions. Read all about it in our
full review.

Will the real Pink Razr please step forward?
Posted by:
Nicole Lee
Moments after we published our "Pretty in pink" front door for our
On the Go Mobile section, another pink member in the gadget family appeared. Say hello to
the pink Razr. No, not
that pink Razr--a new pink Razr. Yes, I was taken aback too, mostly because I've always heard the Magenta Motorola Razr being referred to as the pink Razr, despite its official color name. Well, this pink Razr is now the official pink Razr (confused yet?). It's another color option for the Motorola Razr V3c, exclusive from Verizon, and it is in a significantly lighter hue, veering toward strawberry milk compared with hot magenta. What's next--a ruby-red Razr? Tangerine orange? Periwinkle blue? Personally, I'll be waiting for one that looks like a Rocket Pop.

IE 7: too little, too soon?
Posted by:

Last I heard, the Internet Explorer 7 beta released this week wasn't due until March. But here it is all early, and
man, is it ever a mess. Bugs are one thing--it's a beta--but there are reports already of security holes, and it doesn't even play nice with McAfee Internet
Security Suite. Sheesh, Microsoft. At this rate, you're going to ruin Internet Explorer's good name. Oh...wait...

Canon's new DVD camcorder: Canon DC40
Posted by:
Will Greenwald
Canon has followed up on its
DC10 and
DC20 DVD camcorders with the DC40, a DVD camcorder that specializes in wide-screen movie capture. This new model will compete with Sony's line of DVD camcorders, including the popular
Handycam DCR-DVD403. The camcorder uses wide-screen high-resolution 16:9 shooting, which Canon claims uses a larger proportion of the camcorder's CCD than other cameras do. It boasts a 2.7-inch, 16:9 LCD screen for full-screen, cinema-proportion capture and playback. The DC40 also offers 4.3-megapixel still-image capturing. The Canon DC40 ships in March and will retail for around $900.

Kama Sutra worm claims first victims
Posted by:
Robert Vamosi
Antivirus vendor
F-Secure is reporting the first victims of
Kama Sutra (known as Nyxem on the F-Secure site). The worm is expected to unleash its dangerous payload on the third day of each month (in this case, February 3, 2006), however, if your clock is not set properly, you could start to see the damage anytime. Damage includes overwriting files with the following extensions DOC, XLS, MDE, MDB, PPT, PPS, RAR, PDF, PSD, DMP, and ZIP with an error message "DATA Error [47 0F 94 93 F4 K5]. Fortunately, most antivirus vendors have already updated their signature files to block Kama Sutra.
