Kodak ESP 5250
  • Editors' rating: 3 stars
      Overall score: 6.5 (3.0 stars)
Kodak ESP 5250 Reviewed on 10/29/2009

The Bottom Line: Kodak's ESP 5250 multifunction printer isn't marred by the errors of its predecessors, but it still needs improvement before it can keep up with the competition. Right now, its pleasing photo quality and satisfactory output speed don't justify the $170 price tag and lack of features.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 1200 dpi

HP Deskjet D2660 Printer
  • Editors' rating: 3 stars
      Overall score: 6.5 (3.0 stars)
HP Deskjet D2660 Printer Reviewed on 06/29/2009

The Bottom Line: HP's basic Deskjet D2660 inkjet has a fold-up paper tray and a unique paper corral that make it easy to store away. We noticed several flaws in the output quality, but if you don't expect too much in terms of photo output, this $50 inkjet will make an excellent at-home printer for intermittent use.

Specs: Personal printer - Ink-jet - Color, Legal (8.5 in x 14 in), Wired, PC, Mac, USB

Kodak ESP 3
  • Editors' rating: 3 stars
      Overall score: 6.3 (3.0 stars)
  • User rating: 1h stars out of 58 reviews
Kodak ESP 3 Reviewed on 05/08/2008

The Bottom Line: The Kodak ESP 3 comes with great software for editing photos and applying touch-ups to portraits, but printer software is only as good as the physical results, and the print quality isn't nearly up to current industry standards. Your $150 would be much better spent on alternative multifunction printers.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet

Canon Pixma MP520
  • Editors' rating: 3h stars
      Overall score: 7.5 (3.5 stars)
  • User rating: 3h stars out of 7 reviews
Canon Pixma MP520 Reviewed on 09/24/2007

The Bottom Line: The Canon Pixma MP520 doesn't offer all the bells and whistles found on other budget all-in-ones, but it's a solid device that does the basics right while delivering best-in-class quality.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 2400 x 4800 dpi

Canon Pixma MP210
  • Editors' rating: 3h stars
      Overall score: 7.0 (3.5 stars)
  • User rating: 2h stars out of 17 reviews
Canon Pixma MP210 Reviewed on 09/17/2007

The Bottom Line: If you're looking for the best print and scan quality from a budget all-in-one, the Canon Pixma MP210 is the one for you. Other models, however, offer more substantial feature sets.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 600 x 1200 dpi

Canon Pixma MX300
  • Editors' rating: 3 stars
      Overall score: 6.9 (3.0 stars)
  • User rating: 2h stars out of 12 reviews
Canon Pixma MX300 Reviewed on 09/17/2007

The Bottom Line: If you work in a one-person office and are on a tight budget, the Pixma MX300 is a good fit; you won't find better quality output from comparably priced all-in-one inkjets. You'll need to keep shopping, however, if you need built-in networking or fast prints.

Specs: Fax, Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 600 x 2100 dpi

Canon Pixma MP470
  • Editors' rating: 3h stars
      Overall score: 7.6 (3.5 stars)
  • User rating: 3h stars out of 17 reviews
Canon Pixma MP470 Reviewed on 07/26/2007

The Bottom Line: The Canon Pixma MP470 offers good print speeds, great text and graphics print quality, and useful features for a low price. This $100 multifunction printer trumps all of its budget competitors with printer quality; we highly recommend it for home users on a budget.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 2400 x 4800 dpi

HP Photosmart C4280
  • Editors' rating: 2h stars
      Overall score: 5.9 (2.5 stars)
  • User rating: 2 stars out of 29 reviews
HP Photosmart C4280 Reviewed on 05/24/2007

The Bottom Line: HP tries to offer the most basic users an inexpensive all-in-one with the Photosmart C4280 multifunction printer, but we find that for roughly the same price, you can get an all-in-one with more compelling features and better print quality.

Specs: Copier, Printer, Scanner, Ink-jet, 1200 dpi

Canon PIXMA iP1800

      Overall score: 6.7 (3.0 stars)
  • User rating: 3 stars out of 12 reviews
Canon PIXMA iP1800 Reviewed on 04/23/2007

The Bottom Line: With its decent print speeds, serviceable print quality, and great software package, the Canon Pixma iP1800 is a good choice for home users who want an inexpensive inkjet printer for basic printing needs.

Specs: Photo printer - Ink-jet - Color, Legal (8.5 in x 14 in), Wired, 20 pages/min, 16 pages/min, 1.2 min/page, PC, Mac, USB

HP Photosmart D7160

      Overall score: 7.0 (3.5 stars)
  • User rating: 3 stars out of 4 reviews
HP Photosmart D7160 Reviewed on 03/06/2007

The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a good, all-around printer for the home, the HP Photosmart D7160 is a decent choice. But if your focus is on photographs, you can do better for just a little more cash.

Specs: Photo printer - Ink-jet - Color, Legal (8.5 in x 14 in), Wired, 32 pages/min, 7.9 pages/min, 7.8 pages/min, 2.1 pages/min, 31 pages/min, 7.3 pages/min, 5.7 pages/min, 0.2 min/page, 0.3 min/page, 0.4 min/page, 0.8 min/page, PC, Mac, USB
