Teac P 11 (CD/DVD printer, B/W, thermal transfer)

"Great and affordable printer over all" on by micha118833
Pros: One of the cheapest thermal printers for CD's available. Gets the job done in a decent amount of time. Makes a Professional looking finished product
Cons: The area on the disc is limited to four areas that could be bigger. Has to use it's own software.
Summary: First off, if you order one of these and it won't come on, you must have both the power cord and the USB cord connected. With that being said, I love the look of the product this thing makes! I don't like the limitation on the four areas you can print, but to get rid of the limitations you must buy a printer in the 1000 dollar range. The quality is that of a thousand dollar thermal printer, a bit slower but again is saves you a ton of money. It's 200dpi and it accepts different color ribbons (one at a time). Over all it's good just wish you could print on the whole disc with it.

"Not reliable" on by e4services
Pros: Prints great. And yes 200 DPI, Ribbons are greater than others. China made, rebranded. so, Yes, same unit as:
Stampa STDP1, Primera Signature Z1, EZ-Dupe Magic Printer, SMS HD-003-2577 and U-Print model CDP78.Cons: THey all break REALLY quickly. mine after 14 DVD, others at other sites got about 200 out of it. Guess if they keep sending me new ones, it is OK.
Summary: It will break. THe Printing Head breaks the clips that holds it into the carrier. NewEgg stop carrying the TEAC branded unit because of the returns.

"The Primera Z1 AND the TEAC P-11 are "spray jobs"!!" on by skiguy06
Pros: Costs less then the Primera and is the same thing.....a ALPS!
Cons: Not as well known as the Z1. I guess this is good for Primera which charges 2x to 10x more for the P-11
Summary: Santill28, Almost all due sub printers "spray jobs" engineered by ALPS. The Primera Z1, Teac P-11 and SONY dye sub/ thermal printers are all 100% engineered or have print engines that are 100% engineered by ALPS. Both the P-11 and Z1 are 100% engineered by ALPS. Many sony dye sub photo printers are made by ALPS aswell. I opened a SONY DPP-FP30 and the print engine (the mechanics) and the control board were BOTH made and engineered by ALPS and had a ALPS logo on them. The case SONY designed was ENTIRELY engineered around the pre made (off the shelf) ALPS engine and control board.
If you can get a "Primera Z1" for the cost of a P11, why not? Its the same thing made and engineered by the same company, ALPS.
ALPS has been in the thermal and dye sub printer business for nearly a decade. Look at the ALPS MD1000 and MD5000. They uses the same technology and early the identical print engine (but smaller) as the Z1 and P11.
Santill28, do you research in the future before you make stupid comments. -
"BE VERY CAREFUL" on by Santill28
Pros: TEAC NAME BUT LOOKS LIKE PRIMERA Z1
Cons: THIS PRINTER LOOKS IDENTICAL TO THE PRIMERA Z1 FROM THE PICTURES
Summary: THIS TEAC LOOKS IDENTICAL TO THE PRIMERA Z1. THE CARTRIDGE LOOKS THE SAME, THE CASE, EVERYTHING EXCEPT I SAYS TEAC.
THE USER REVIEW SAYS IT'S 2000 DPI, AND THE SPECS SAY IT'S 200 DPI.
I'M NOT TOUCHING THIS WITH A 10 FOOT POLE. I MAY BE WRONG, AND IT MAY WORK FLAWLESSLY, BUT, GIVEN IT'S APPEARANCE, AND IDENTICAL LOOK TO THE PRIMERA, IT LOOKS LIKE THE PRIMERA WITH A SPRAY JOB, I WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST ONE ON THE BLOCK TO TRY IT.
