"Bring on XP64"
Pros: Price! 64bit CPU, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, DVD Burner
Cons: No card reader
Summary: I was shopping for the new dual core notebooks from Acer when I caught eye on this one. Apparently, due to the new 5003/4 models, the price on the 5002 is dropping to the mid $800 level. Immediate no-brainer since I am getting the 1GB RAM and 100HDD model!
Wow, am I surprised by the speed and abundance of free RAM on this machine! And the wireless reception is a lot stronger than my old Toshiba. Get one if you still can. Looking forward to XP64 now....!

i got my system at circut city for 549. I really need it for linux so I replaced the broadcom wireless with an atheros card. Intalled suse 10.1 and am very happy with it. Full 64bit support. I still have some work to do. I dont have any of the dvd playing stuff installed. I have read some reviews about poor video support but I cant comment yet about that. Fast, long battery life and looks cool.
Con: cpu air intake on the bottom of the case. this baby gets hot. You have to juggle it a little on your lap or use a cooller pad. -
I just purchased the 5004 tonight for 899 and man am I impressed!!! Granted, this is my first notebook, but I have used others around the firehouse. My fathers Gateway he got a few weeks ago is not quite as nice as this IMO and it was the same price. He only has 80 gb HDD and 512 ram. Same processor and he has Win MCE. Not too much to warrant 100 bux more (its off sale now) Anyhow, just wanted to say I am loving my new ACER!!
