"BEST Bang for Your Buck!"
Pros: For general computing you simply cannot beat it for the price- Great laptop for K-12 students. XP never crashed, not one error, not one glitch- ever.
Cons: Shared graphics, not dedicated. Ran Corel Video X2 or X12 Pro and it did fine. Ran HalfLife 2 on it with 700 megs of ram. You get the HDD split between C: & D: 30-40 gigs each- pain in the but butt don't reformat just transfer files.
Summary: Final Verdict: BIGGEST bang for 400 bucks on a laptop ever. Very smart buy for k-12 students for the older you get the more processing capacity you'll need. Bought refurbished from Tiger, set it up and hardly ever turned it off and that was in what 2002, 2003. It gave up the ghost yesterday and I replaced it with a Vaio NS300 series. What you *need* to do with this laptop is to set it up to auto run diskcheck upon start up after a bad powerdown. I mean I ran this sucker until it blew it up- turned it off maybe 10 times- the battery was so cooked it would only hold 10 mins of charge. I have had absolutely no problems with this notebook- all three of my XPS notebooks together couldn't get a leg up. Never even had to run critical windows systems files checker. But do your maintenance like clock work. I blew the fan and the NIC in one hour and I knew the chip wouldn't be far behind. This is thing is like a Honda Civic- gives you a good 70-80k miles until all hell breaks loose and when that happens use it for parts! But if you're not going to run system maintenance regularly, expect it to crap out on you within 4-6 months so take care of it and it'll last.
