"Fast, Feature Packed and Gorgeous... Perfect!"

    by Mike O on June 18, 2005

Pros: Excellent performance (from gaming to video editing), feature packed (hey it's even a TV), beautifully designed (if even my fiancee likes it... well it must be perfect)

Cons: It can't be autonomous for long, It's expensive (but you get what you pay for)

Summary: This notebook is really something. I am working as a video editor and needed something speedy, something that will replace my desktop completely. After months of researching I've come upon this gem. Not only does it measure up to a demanding task of running complex video editing (plus 3D modelling) software, it's great performance in 3D graphics make it a great gaming machine.

LCD is sharp and color rendition is accurate. Viewing DVD's on it is a real pleasure.

Also, an important note, I'm experimentally editing High Definition (HD) video on this unit and it's working flawless. What more could I ask for?

One downside to the whole deal is the battery autonomy time; it's short. But all these features, fast processor, huge LCD, optical drive and GPU need power so if you need autonomy this is not a notebook for you. I need absolutely no autonomy so these few hours I sqeeze out of my Quosmio are a bonus for me.

I bought this unit to use it as an easily movable workstation/multimedia and/or entertainment center not something I intended to use without nearby power outlets and that's the reason I give it a 10 - it deserves even higher.

P.S One more thing, this particular notebook gave me absolutely no problems in terms of crashes or other misbehaviour - something I was more than used to while working on my desktop.

I noted a comment from dominikgabriel stating that this review was falsely planted. What is going on?

So i am commenting. this system is great. it is a stable 6.5 or 7.3 not better. this type of a rating is AMAZING to get. compared with a 500-800 dollar laptop, they would get 2-3 in this category. But in the realm of this particular system type this computer is nearly the top. But who writes: I find higher resolution possability to be worse. as in reference to the gateway which has a better resolution capacity? I MEAN comeon man?! who are you trying to fool?

Please do not shill us or pill us with a spark of commerce. I am frankly disappointed with Cnet for letting this type of post rest on the top of a list for consumers. I have been an avid follower of Cnet and the Computer Shopper since i was nearly 10 years old. I have owned and operated the best of the best systems dozens of times in my life with pride, often advice given by CShopper and Cnet helped me to make a decision. But today I look around and I see a lot of plants, a ton of Trumphed up exaggerations and hardly a kernel of easily discernable truth.

The only type of good post you will find about this particular system lies as the third on the list. The man owns one, and speaks clearly about its faults. He does not leave out the bonuses to spite, only because he feels, as i feel, that the "Battery Life" hedge of paid and planted marginalists is superficial, a consumer needs respect and deserves a realistic criticism, not a dismissive wave to the negative.

You will find that a true consumer makes better decisions with given fair and completely honest information, you will also find that Honest companies with transparent procedures and practices are the only ones worth buying from, working for and or conversing with. it is cowardly to do otherwise, even if the other guy is doing it.

    thank you.

to finally purchase this so called awesome notebook. I have been confused on which to buy. I researched and contemplated for awhile on which to buy. Toshiba, Alienware or Dell. Of course Alienware quickly was out of the option after reading a lot of user reviews. So after researching here and there and reading the reviews here, I decided. From the look of things, it looks like I wont be dissapointed. I will be back later to put in my review when I receive mines in a few days...

Have been looking at this computer for a while now, and simply drooling every time I see it. Checked any and all info on it online. Could not find much. Today that has been rectified. This will be my next laptop, no question about it. It has everything I have been looking for. Thanks for your review.
