"Great Little Laptop"
Pros: Mobile and Sleek. DVD playback without booting
Cons: Could be Faster, Battery Charging Takes a While
Summary: I have had my U205-S5002 for about a few weeks now and it's a very nice little laptop. My first laptop ever was a Toshiba A25-S207 which is ancient compared to todays lap burners but it was IS a toshiba and it lasted me two and a half years and I sold it without it having a problem. Unfortunately I made the mistake of switching to a Dell laptop after my Bullet Proof Toshiba, I wanted to be more mobile with my computer needs so I went with the 700m with an extended 6 hour battery. It lasted about a year before the motherboard blew and the Warranty JUST ran out! so Dells are out and Toshibas are BACK IN! I love the playback controls and the sleek silver and blue matte finish of the comptuer much like my old A25 Satellite. I have all the features you can get excluding the Dual Layer DVD burner mines the single layer DVD+/-RW(I think). and it's a quick performer, I can download Microsoft word updates while downloading DVD software and burn a CD at the same time without losing a lot of speed. It cooks through software boot ups like Microsoft Office that can take some computers a while to load. One thing I hate is the DVD Playing software InterwinDVD which is the buggiest slowest piece of junk I've ever used. WMP 10 can handle dvds much swifter without a bunch of jitters. The battery I LOVE because you get about Four and a half hours out of it. However when you drain the battery to 5% Life it takes about 6 hours to reach 100% which seems long to me, with most computer batteries they have a quick charge where it charges 60% really quick and then the next 40% slower but this battery takes its sweet time. As with all computer purchases I recommend buying an extended warranty, I got the 4 year accident coverage just in case, PLUS if you decide to sell the computer in 2 years since it'll be obsolete, you'll have a transferable warranty to up the resale value! I have Nero 7 Ultimate downloaded because the included burn software is clunky and slow and chalked full of copyrights if you know what I mean.
SO if you're looking for a videogame running machine, first off don't look for it in a little package like this try a 15" or 17" alienware desktop replacement, but if you're looking for something that you can take to class, or on a business trip, this is a very VERY good choice. I personally love the fingerprint security, it always gets Ohhs and Ahhhs from those around you. Hope this review helps.
PS like most laptops this one gets really hot if it's directly on your lap for more than 5 minutes so try setting a magazine or newspaper underneath it unless you like having your crotch feel like it's on fire.

* Screen is Average to Good Nothing Special Here. They went cheap on the screen. But for business I dont care. This computer is not for gamers.
* Battery Life- Its a little CPU monster. So I would expect the battery life it gets. About 3.3 Hours on a full charge crunching like crazy. Not terrible considering the "CPU POWER" And the Duel Layer DVD writer

I needed a computer that was ultra light weight Its 4.5 pounds makes it very light and compact ultra portable. The keyboard has that nice ibm quality feel. Flaming fast Duo Centreno 1.8 Duel Processors. And this baby has a 4GIG RAM expandability. Along with a "SATA" Hard Drive. Which is a huge performace booster. I do alot of multitasking with alot of numbers crunching being a computer consultant. It comes standard with WIFI built in with a mic. Great for Vonage Wifi $24.00 month flat rate phone service with a complete freedom wireless broadband slot II card to make calls local and long distance without running up your cellphone minutes. For business it was the best choice i think of could of made. Its packed with Win XP Professional, Pre-Installed. Makes it nice and fully featured. And a soft menu for tweaking things that would only be available in bios without rebooting. And it has Bootable USB. A plus if you are a portable storage freek like me with 22 years computer tech experience. This is a Big Plus. For someone who has never bought a pre-fabed computer. Always Custom designed, I would rate this computer a 8.5 out of 10. Only because of battery life average. Its 3.5 hours running full force multitasking. But thats the drawbacks to having a monster powerhouse CPU computer with only being 4.5 pounds of ultra portability. PS this is not a gaming computer. The monitor display is Decent! Not Great but acceptable. Its needs VS wants. And the price was $700 Less than anything else out there with the same features from a quality mfg.
