"Compaqs poor attempt at a cheap laptop"
Pros: It will start up, slowly
Cons: No speaker volume control, touchpad and mouse pointer have a mind of their own, POOR tech support.
Summary: As soon as I received this there were problems. First try at sending an email, I couldn't type because it paused then caught up with the letters, then would stop altogether. The mouse pointer took off on it's own. First try at a DVD, there was no volume control, at 100 it was less than a whisper, same with CD's. I contacted support, sent it in, they sent it back a week later, with no repair, saying they couldn't duplicate the errors. Apparently they didn't know how to turn it on or insert a DVD. I called them back, they said to send it back in. This time it took a month, I called to see what they found out, they didn't know where the laptop was, where it was sent, or what was being done with it. When they did find it, they sent it back and two notes were left inside. One saying a generic driver was installed and SHOULD fix the touchpad and typing delays. SHOULD. The second note said a bios update would be out SOMETIME in the future to fix the DVD playback and volume problems. SOMETIME. Then on top of all the above, hpshopping wouldn't take it back because the 21 day trial period was up. THEY had the laptop themselves for repair over 21 days. HP's new strategy ?? Build them fast, build them cheap, worry about fixing them later !! Switching to Dell here for good.
