"You can disable the touchpad if you don't like it!"
Pros: size, weight, prize, design
Cons: can't come with a cheaper traditional hard drive
Summary: Just for people who is NOT familiar with thinkpads, you can disable the stick or/and the touchpad if you don't like it. Lenovo kept both to satisfy different flavors.

Thanks for the information about the touchpad. It made the decision to buy the X300 easy for me.

When reading the description of the X300, it looked as though the otherwise excellent computer would be hurt by the touchpad if it could not be turned off. I imagined accidentally hitting it and causing havoc.
Being able to turn it off is key, and I hope Lenovo/IBM will make that well known.
I am a total touchpoint fan, so this is wonderful for me.
