"Fashion forward netbook"
Pros: All of the positives in the HP Mini 1000 review
Cons: Spendy
Summary: The reviews of the "regular" HP Mini 1000 obviously apply to this computer. I bought this for my wife, and just like a lot of designer stuff, you have to decide if its worth the money for the fancy case. She was used to "borrowing" my Lenovo X61 and always commented how ugly it was. I think Molly got it exactly right, great for a gift.
Glossy plastic that shows fingerprints
It is a little slow to boot with 60g hard drive, but wakes from hibernation really well, so this is not a big problem. Running Eudora, Firefox, and MS Works - fast enough for that. Had a nice video call via Skype with built-in camera, and it worked well with built in microphone and speakers. Combined mic/speaker jack a little weird, but I don't think you really need a separate mic - at least not for Skype calling. Watched a streaming Netflix movie with a stereo Bluetooth headset and that worked well too.
So it is what it is - stylish, functional, and simple. Don't expect to be a desktop replacement, but works for 90% of the stuff one does while traveling or sitting on the couch.
