"Generally good and cheap."
Pros: Good print quality (on good paper), fast, cheap, built in flash media slots
Cons: Notoriously bad HP drivers, poor photo scan quality.
Summary: I have had this for 2 years and it was cheap when I bought it.
It prints relatively quickly.
Photocopy mode is good.
Scanning photos yields pretty poor quality/color reproduction/noisy image. The scanning software on the PC is poor/clunky.
The drivers were a pain to install (and keep healthy, weird, they seem to flake every 6 months).
As with all HP consumer products, they are trying to do it all and corner ever market... so the drivers are bloated. All functions tend to want to steer you into using the HP bundled software. No fun there.
Where this thing really shines: if you print from good image source (say 5MP camera) onto good quality paper (don't skimp) you get fantastic prints up to 8x10! Truly beautiful.
The built in flash media reader is nice.
I use this thing to print the occasional text document, receipt, form, document, whatever. I use it to print photos from digi-cam. I use the flash media slots to transfer data to the pc. I use the copier mode to copy documents. For all of this it is great.
I have given up trying to use the scanner for any quality photo scanning, copying. I use it to scan documents I want to save but don't necessarily care about the quality of.
The ink life is shorter than I'd like, but okay.
In nutshell, nice photo printer and general purpose copier for the bucks. But don't plan to use it as a photo scanner or photo copier.
