"Easy setup, slow downloads"
Pros: Easy to set parental controls; price
Cons: Download speeds; support
Summary: This is one of only two parental control wireless routers I was able to find (Linksys was the other). The price was right ($15 after rebate) so I picked it up. It was very simple setting up "accounts" for everyone in the house, as well as allowing certain PCs to bypass the parental controls. However, when the parental controls are enabled (along with the SPI firewall), the router slows by more than 35% - through my Netgear WGR614 I get download speeds of about 13Mbps (wired), through the ZyXel I only get about 8Mbps. Even with the parental controls and the firewall disabled, I "only" get 9Mbps. While the speeds are nothing to complain about, what is the point of putting a 100Mbps WAN interface if the device can't even maintain 10Mbps. When I emailed ZyXel support about this, I received no response.
