"Avoid this computer; hard drives and motherboard failed"
Pros: It's nimble in moving between programs and processing speed is very good.
Cons: It's unreliable; I've replaced hard drives twice, a mother board once, and the entire computer once. Now the computer is off being "fixed" again.
Summary: I bought this Vista 64 equipped HP Pavilion computer 6/06/08. Motherboard failure occurred 8/08/08. The diagnosis was very slow, twice assessing the problem as hard drive failure, replacing hard drives, and then concluding that the motherboard failed. In-home Geek Squad repair was just an invitation to further delay.
Best Buy replaced the computer after Geek Squad "service." On 12/22/08, the replacement computer also failed completely. This computer has chewed up many hours of my time and is currently out of service for more Geek Squad service. The purchase of this computer is the worst mistake I've made in 20 years of buying such equipment.
These failures occurred despite use of a BackUPS uninterruptible power supply. Fortunately I had free-standing hard drive backup and was able to salvage the data I would otherwise have lost.
My experience with this computer has been so bad that I'm considering buying a Mac.

I've got mine refurbished and never have had ANY problems with it... not sure why your system is giving you this much trouble, my bet bad PSU. Did you upgrade the video card? if so then I'm placing MORE money on PSU. Before getting a mac at least take a peak at hackingt0sh, the m9250f is fav to make a mac clone
