"The First Security Suite that I Forgot I Was Running"
Pros: Ease of Use, Smooth Operation, Very Helpful Feature set
Cons: The only con I have is that it may be going away.
Summary: I purchased my current PC brand new from HP in March of 07 I believe. I was originally running Zone Alarm Security Suite however, it was not ready for Vista so I gave OneCare a try. The result is that I dropped Zone Alarm and purchased OneCare and never looked back. I have to admit that I was doubtful that Microsoft could pull it off but I'll say that Live OneCare is the FIRST Security Suite that I have owned that ran so well that I don't notice and even forget that its installed.
After the first month of operation I was constantly checking to see if it was operating because it never seemed to get in the way or show any signs that it was scanning or downloading updates. Granted I always run scans and updates when Im asleep but even with some of the highest rated Security Suites out there the strain they put on your PCs performance is beyond noticeable.
I have pretty good web surfing skills so I tend to block a lot of things for getting placed on my PC.....even cookies from sites I don't know so even after having OneCare for two years I was surprise and kinda excited that I had finally bumped into a site that try to download something malicious to my PC and OneCare stopped it in its tracks.
The reason I was excited by this event is because the program runs so quietly that I often wonder if its protecting me at all. At one point; after originally installing OneCare after eight months I uninstalled it and installed Zone Alarm, ran a complete scan of my system and found that it was clean.
Of course I removed Zone Alarm and reinstalled OneCare and have been fairly confident that its doing its job and doing it well.
