"HD ( Highly-Disappointing)"
Pros: Great HD TV
Cons: Terrible regular TV
Summary: I recently read all of the reviews on the website looking to buy a HDTV, compared all of the models at the store, and found this one to be one of the better ones. I really thought that the picture was GREAT at the store, only to find that when I brought it home to be disappointed. The reason why, was that when viewing regular broadcasts ( which most of the channels are ) the picture looked absolutely terrible. When watching a true HD broadcast the picture was absolutely amazing! At this time I could not get past the terrible picture of regular broadcasts, so I had to return it. I really did not want to return it as I thought the TV was a great design, but for the cost of the TV I sure would have thought the picture would be better than what I saw. If any one plans on buying it, I strongly note that you better make sure you plan on watching mostly true HD broadcasts in order to enjoy the TV.

The normal broadcast is always bad on all big TV's because its so expanded and a normal brodacast has no pixils compared to high definition. Minimise the size the picture and it will look good on the TV.

This is a outstanding TV, HDTV is outstanding, and the sound is awsome. I have a bose speaker system, So I know sound, the audio on this TV is great. I have not found any disadvantages of this model I have had it for a week. If you are in the market for a TV of this type and size, this would be the one to get!!

I've had the KDF-42WE655 for 3 weeks now and have not experienced any of the problems you describe. I am on Comcast Cable....the first 70 channels are Analog. This set does an amazing job of upgrading the picture on these channels. Most of the programs that I like to watch are in the analog channels and I have no complaints with the picture and in fact can't tell the diffence between the analog and digital pictures. The HD channels are awesome. I bought this set knowing that for the time being, most of my viewing would be on the non-HD channels and I didn't want a set that couldn't produce a picture as good as my 6 year old analog Sony flat screen. I am not disappointed. My set top box is connected via component cabling.

Many of the Widescreen TV's stretch the picture to fill the wide screen. this results in a (my opinion) highly degraded picture. However you do not need to watch it stretched. You can watch it with a 4:3 ratio (like your old TV set) reserving the wide screen viewing for DVD, broadcast HD or satellite HD.

I believe your problem must lie somewhere other than the TV. I have owned this TV for 5 months and the picture on regular broadcasts, analog and digital, is outstanding (I'm on Time Warner Cable). My wife, who is very picky, sometimes thinks that standard broadcasts are in High Def. I agree that the HDTV signals are truely amazing.

Head to any electronics store and you'll find open box big screen tv's for clearance. The vast majority are returns from people who do not have digital cable and were expecting the HDTV sharpness and brilliance they saw on the closed circuit loop at the store to be similarly produced by their analog cable at home. This is just not going to happen. This set (and other big screen tv's) need help to get the best picture. That means transitioning to digital cable or using an antenna to get over-the-air HDTV broadcasts. Otherwise, you are mistakenly expecting a product to make a very poor analog signal into a high definition digital cable quality picture.

Product review means, how is the products works. If you don't have good video source then you should not buy HD or HD ready TV(s). Read many information on web. I know it is not best time to buy HD or HD ready tvs now because people who watch regular tv much has no use. Maybe it is good time to buy people who watch movies alot. Again it is not TV's foults regulat brodcast doesn't look good.
