"Puts the Me in Mediocre"
Pros: Fingerprint scanner, USB ports on both sides
Cons: Screen, Keyboard
Summary: I've been using the nc6400 for a little over a year now and have not been all that impressed.
The Good:
The performance is good, it seems the the dual processors help a fair bit when doing heavy processing. The fingerprint scanner is a neat toy. I like having USB ports on both sides of the computer.
The Average:
This laptop is a bit on the thick side (as opposed to the Thinkpad that it replaced). Battery life after one year has suffered and I'm down to about 1 hour at minimum screen brightness.
The Bad:
Power Supply - HP changed the power supply at some point in time and it is impossible to find a 3rd party power supply that will work with this thing! Mine burnt up when I was on the road and I was SOL for about 4 days until I could get a hold of the docking station PS. I'm not sure why they made the change but the slightly older HP's work just fine with 3rd party adapters.
Screen - The screen works well and is nice for watching movies but not for work purposes. As this is a "business" PC, having the extra width is mostly worthless when programming, reading documents, and surfing. You will get sick of constant scrolling.
Keyboard - The keyboard has poor tactile feedback and the it takes some getting used to the goofy layout. I can't count how many documents that I've accidentally deleted when reaching for the page-up key. This takes about a month to get used to.
Overall, this is a slightly below average laptop. The hardware failures that I've experienced have been the power supply and the SD card slot.
