"Inspiron 531 Purchase"
Pros: Memory Upgrades Reasonable
Cons: Hardware Additions
Summary: I really like the sleek case of this machine. It is light weight and light compared to the Dell 4551 I had purchased 5 years ago. Be careful deciding how you want your Inspiron configured when you order your machine. I was confident that I would be able to transfer my GeForce 6200 into the machine when I received it, but discovered that there is no slot for a graphics card. The (Nvidia 6150se) graphics chip is located on the motherboard. The 6150se is equipped with 64mb of ram which seems obsolete these days where most applications require a minimum of 128mb's to be safe. Also I was hoping to transfer my Plextor DVD Burner which didn't work either since the internal wiring isn't setup in the traditional connectors or maybe it's just been awhile since I looked inside the newer machines to know? better.

It seems that because you have not recently updated your self to the new systems you have blamed the computer itself with a poor rating. your rating the computer not the hardware that you have that is our dated and if you have an agp graphics card or a pci graphics and it doesn't have a slot for it then you should have studied the system better. also dont give bad rating because of personal preference of your old hardware you should have gotten a good graphics card for the pc and knowing dell you could have gotten one concerning your needs and ob you did not talk to a representative... Research systems before byuing there are different levels

The 531 does come with a PCI-E (not AGP) slot for your graphics card and and all the connections inside are SATA, no IDE connections, which is what your Plextor DVD burner probably uses.

Just disable the integrated nVidia card and install your nVidia 6 Series card.
