"Very excellent and capable Plasma, very new on the market. Brilliant and crisp pictures."

Pros: Top of the line 1080P, Panasonic's kown high quality and reliability

Cons: Remote Control does not have back-lit; a minor inconvenience operating in a darkened room.

Summary: I love this fantastic TV! Highly recommmed it! Read on if you want to save some money before you headed over to electronic stores. As of mid-October 2007,Merchants are starting to advertise this unit. Expect pricing competition. I did extensive research on the net before selecting this one. There are competent-enough and less-expensive models from other manufacturers on the market, but if you want the top quality and reliability at a reasonable price, this unit will be it. I initially saw this advertised on Navy Exchange flyer which got me started on research. Giving consideration to unit price, applicable tax, shipping, and rebate, Sears was the best choice for me: Unit price $1399, rebate $150 (expires OCT 31), and free interest for 6 months by charging on Sears card, allowing me to take sweet time paying it off without paying any interest. Most retailers are advertising at $1599 or so. One note on Sears: they do not have this unit on their web site, yet. So, you will need to go to Sears store and convince the sales person to order through their inbentory/order system. Sears' unit code is 57 75597. Ensure it's TH42PZ77U, not PX or 75. Good luck!

Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for someone else to look at this one, as it appears to have the better reflective coating, a higher contrast rating, and a lower price than the highly touted PZ700U. I hope CNET gets around to it soon.

Yes, indeed, Sears' sale price, especially after the discount for either having or signing up for a Sear's card, is the best price out there, by nearly $300! The unit I received stopped turning on a few minutes after arrival (Panasonic's Concierge Service told me it must be defective) and Sears delivered a new one the very next day. Both price and service--you can't ask for more.
