"Arrogant and unethical customer service!"
Pros: attractive promos
Cons: Worse customer service
Summary: Comcast is an arrogant and unethical company to do business with. I don't care if they have the best internet at the best price, there's no way I'll give them my business unless they're my only option.
Please, people I urge you to not support Comcast until they stop running their customer service department like a Govt. Beauocracy from communist Russia! Heh, Commiecast.
I signed up for their 19.99 for 6 mo. high speed internet promo, because my current provider was charging me $60 / mo for slower speed.
I received my first bill from Comcast and it was actually for the 29.99 for 12 mo. promo instead. So I called up customer service to switch back to the promo I had signed up with and they told me they didn't have the codes for that promo and I needed to walk into the office to get that rate.
Deciding that that's unacceptable customer service, I promptly called back to cancel service. And then lo and behold the retension department has access to the codes! WOW OMG imagine that! But at this point, when I call to cancel it's too late, you've lost your chance, and canceled anyway. Customer service should be high quality in all departments not just RETENSION!!!
I'm not excited to go back to paying $60 / mo with the other provider but I have no choice, I refuse to do business with arrogant and unethical Comcast, as long as there's an alternative at any price.
As such, I'll be looking at DirectTV next so that I can sever all ties with Comcast.

I recently tried to become a new customer with comcast and they have forever tarnished my opinion of them. Trying to get additional jacks installed into my home and trying to get telephone service, they could not get any of their sub-contractors to do the job. Whoever the comcast executive is that is getting these cable sub-contractors the jobs must be getting a helluva kickback because these guys are ruining the comcast name. They are lazy, unreliable, and simply stupid. Comcast should be ashamed to have these people representing them to their customers.

Most consumer goods and services companies don't dabble in politics because it is bad for business. Our country is indeed fairly divided, and if you are anything like me, it doesn't sit well to see the money you give to a company get channeled into people, organizations or activities you find morally reprehensible. Thusly, why ostracize half of your potential customers by engaging in political polemics? Because you can. Comcast has a monopolistic grip on their industry (internet), but just like semi-competitor DTV's Rupert Murdoch, profit is not enough, and unless you are a far right wing stalwart like they, it's getting harder to feel ok about just paying your bills, watching a ball game or surfing the web. When you are forced to decide which side you are on for every mundane action of your day, how can this lead anywhere else but civil conflict?
