Apple already shooting TV ads for iPhone 5 (report)

In the run up to the next iPhone, rumor has it that Apple's already getting the unannounced device ready for its small-screen debut.

According to sources reporting to AppleInsider, Apple has begun production on TV advertisements to promote the iPhone 5 that will not be ready until the first week of October.

Sprint to sell iPhone 5 in October, report says

Sprint Nextel may finally be getting the iPhone.

The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported today that the nation's third-largest wireless carrier will begin selling the iPhone 5 alongside Verizon Wireless and AT&T in mid-October.

Gaining access to the iPhone would represent a major victory for Sprint. Selling Apple's smartphone would put the carrier--which lags behind its larger rivals--on relatively equal footing with Verizon and AT&T. Leak: iPhone 5 will not have front-facing LED flash

According to a recent leak in the parts distribution chain, the iPhone 5 may not have the rumored front-facing LED flash as previously expected.

The photo shows what is purported to be the iPhone 5 camera module next to the camera module from the current iPhone 4. The two parts look extremely similar, though the iPhone 5 module seems to be lacking a front-facing LED flash unit, a feature thought to be a given for the new model.

Well it's not September 7 (or is it October 7) yet, so there's still time for some crazy iPhone 5 fever to spread around the Web. Today's installment brings a leaked photo reportedly depicting factory workers preparing iPhone 5 screens.

Two unfortunate details exist about this photograph however. The first, is the stunning lack of clarity in its framing. iPhone 5 now rumored to launch October 7

The iPhone 5 could go on sale on Friday, October 7, with preorders to start on September 30, according to the latest rumors in the ongoing saga of the hotly anticipated next edition of Apple's smartphone.

Citing intel from its own sources, 9To5Mac said yesterday that Apple had been eyeing either October 7 or October 14 as potential iPhone 5 launch dates. But with preproduction apparently running smoothly, the site says, Apple has opted for the earlier date.

Rumor: Carriers testing 4G LTE iPhones

A 4G LTE iPhone is coming. That's the conclusion drawn by Boy Genius Report, which reported this morning that at least one carrier is testing iPhone models with 4G LTE capabilities.

BGR says it has "obtained evidence of an internal iOS test build from one of Apple's major carrier partners, and buried in the firmware is a property list (.plist file) for LTE."

The latest reports and rumors in the world of Apple purport that the company is planning a media event for September 7 and may unveil a free "iCloud iPhone" alongside its standard iPhone 5.

Japanese tech news site Kodawarisan (English version) says that Apple will announce its new lineup of iPods at the September 7 event. As the rumor mill surrounding the impending release of Apple's iPhone 5 continues to churn, wireless carriers find themselves in the mix, reportedly testing the latest version of the iPhone for network compatibility and stability.
