The Samsung LNB640 series of LCD HDTVs was introduced in the spring of 2009 and is excluive to electronics retailer Best Buy. It consists of the 32-inch LN32B640, 40-inch LN40B640, 46-inch LN46B640 and 55-inch LN55B640.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review a similar product, the Samsung LN46B650, that may give you an idea of how the LNB640 will perform. The LNB640 has a slightly lower contrast ratio (80,000:1 vs. 100,000:1) than the LNB650, so it will probably display somewhat lighter, less realistic black levels. The LB640 has an additional composite input, but it doesn't have networking or Wi-Fi capabilities beyond the company's InfoLink system (check out the review of the UNB466000 for more info). Its styling is also a subtler gray as opposed to the B650's red. For more information, refer to the full review of the Samsung LN46B650.

The Samsung LNB530 series of LCD HDTVs was introduced in the spring of 2009. It consists of the 32-inch LN32B530, the 37- inch LN37B530, the 40-inch LN40B530, the 46-inch LN46B530 and the 52-inch LN52B530.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review the Samsung LN46B650, which may give you an idea of how the LNB530 will perform. The LNB530 does have a few step-down features, though, including only three HDMI inputs and a lack of 120Hz processing, picture-in-picture, a USB input, and networking capabilities. It also has a lower contrast ratio, which likely means worse black-level performance, and a matte as opposed to glossy screen finish. For more information, refer to the full review of the Samsung LN46B650.

The LG LG50 series of LCD HDTVs was introduced in 2008. It consists of the 32-inch 32LG50, the 37-inch 37LG50, the 42-inch 42LG50, 47-inch 47LG50, and the 52-inch 52LG50.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review a related, more expensive model, the LG 47LG60, that may give you an idea of how the LG50 series will perform. Both share the same contrast ratio, and so should have similar black-level performance, but the LG60 has different styling and includes 120Hz processing. For more information, refer to the review of the LG 47LG60.

The Sony KDL-L5000 series of LCD HDTVs was introduced in the spring of 2009. It consists of the 22-inch KDL-22L5000, the 26-inch KDL-26L5000, the 32-inch KDL-32L5000, and the 37-inch KDL-37L5000.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review the Sony KDL-52V5100, which offers some similar features to the KDL-L5000. The KDL-L5000 is Sony's entry-level, smaller-size LCD series and lacks some of the step-up features found on the KDL-V5100 series. The step-down features of the KDL-L5000 include a 720p native resolution, only three HDMI inputs, and it lacks 120Hz processing. For more information, refer to the full review of the Sony KDL-52V5100.

The Samsung LNB550 series of LCD HDTVs was introduced in spring 2009. It consists of the 32-inch LN32B550, the 37-inch LN37B550, the 40-inch LN40B550, the 46-inch LN46B550, and the 52-inch LN52B550.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review a similar product, the Samsung LN40B650, which may give you an idea of how the LNB550 will perform. The LNB550 series has a significantly lower contrast ratio (100,000:1 vs. 70,000:1) than the LNB650, so it will probably display brighter black levels. The series also has one less USB input and lacks picture-in-picture, networking capabilities, and 120 Hz processing. For more information, refer to the full review of the Samsung LN40B650.

The Sony KDL-S4100 series was introduced in June 2008. It consists of the 40-inch KDL-40S4100, the 46-inch KDL-46S4100, and the 52-inch KDL-52S4100.
CNET did not review any of these models, but we did review a similar product, the Sony KDL-46W100, that may give you an idea of how the KDL-S4100 will perform. The 40S4100 and the 46S4100 have a slightly lower contrast ratio (3,000:1 vs. 2,500:1) than the W4100, so it will probably display brighter black levels. The 52S4100, however, does have a contrast ratio of 3,000:1. The series also has one less HDMI input and lacks 120Hz processing. For more information, refer to the full review of the Sony KDL-46W4100.
