John McAfee, the antivirus software pioneer sought in connection with a murder in Belize, has apparently begun writing a blog that chronicles his efforts to hide from the police.

McAfee told Wired in a taped interview that he's trying to elude police. Police began searching for McAfee after one of his neighbors was found dead Sunday morning with a bullet wound to the head. Update expected today on McAfee search, murder probe

As police in Belize continue to investigate the murder of American businessman Gregory Viant Faull, they have been thwarted in their attempts to question John McAfee, one of the fathers of antivirus software.

Faull, 52, and McAfee were neighbors on Ambergrise Caye, one of the islands off the shore of Belize. Daniel Guerrero, the mayor of San Pedro, the village where they lived, told CNET that police still haven't located McAfee but that he expects authorities to provide a status report on the murder investigation, as well as the search for McAfee, sometime later today.

John McAfee, an Internet security expert and one of the pioneers in battling computer viruses, acknowledges that he's hiding from police but said he is innocent of the murder of his neighbor who was found shot to death Sunday morning.

Antivirus pioneer McAfee sought for questioning in murder case

John McAfee, who founded the antivirus software giant named after him, is wanted for questioning by police in Belize who are investigating the murder of a 52-year-old man, CBS reported today.

According to the report, police are searching for the killer of Gregory Viant Faull, an American expat. Gizmodo reported earlier today that McAfee was wanted for the crime, but CBS, quoting Rafael Martinez, spokesman for the Belize National Security Ministry, said it would be incorrect to call McAfee a suspect at this time.

McAfee founder booked on drug, weapons charges, report says

John McAfee, the man behind the anti-virus name, says he's being bugged by Belize's Gang Suppression Unit.

His home was raided by four different arms of armed Belize official organizations, including the GSU and the police. At least that is what is being reported by Channel 5 in Belize.
