Cooler Racing!!!

So far this week, we've seen the sometimes creative, sometimes jury-rigged, and often times hilarious self-modified vehicles that only the American redneck can concoct. With that in mind, I'm pleased to present the viewer with the motorized cooler, and the world of cooler racing.

This vid comes from dirttraxtv.com, where we get to witness the excitement and drama of an off-road cooler relay race. There's everything here you'd get in a typical car or dirt bike race: a couple of wheelies, some crashes, and some rednecks. This modern invention is quite handy--not only can you … Read more

Ice bucket wine cooler keeps wine dry and cool

Having a chilled bottle of wine by your side on a nice, warm day is one of life's little pleasures. The problem is, sometimes there is no cooling device nearby. Certainly, it isn't easy to lug a refrigerator to whatever pleasant hillside or beach shore you may be picnicking on. (Never mind the extension cord!) Ice buckets are nice and all, but soon you have a large puddle of water making everything soggy. For a nice, dry alternative to the standard ice bucket, check out the Twin Chiller Iceless Wine Cooler by Prodyne.

Using a double-wall design, the … Read more

Store your wine where you have space

Keeping wine chilled has been a little bit of a problem for me. If I try to put more than a bottle or two in the refrigerator, I don't seem to have room for everything else that should go in there. But my kitchen barely has room for me--it certainly doesn't have the space for a standalone wine cooler. I'm not about to give up any of my counter space for anything like that, either. Solutions seems to have found the one spot in my kitchen that I can fit a wine cooler in, though: the Under-Cabinet Wine CoolerRead more

Ice bucket brings mood lighting to the party

Mood lighting is important in any situation. However, when a bottle of wine is opened the need is even more pronounced. It just calls for having the lights down low and some pleasant tunes on the hi-fi. Of course some friendly company is an agreeable accompaniment too.

But what of the times when the lights just aren't right? Too low or too bright, sometimes it's tricky to set the proper mood.

Enter the Drink Light Bottle Cooler. Or rather, turn it on.

This combination designed by Jorge Najera takes the lowly ice bucket and transforms it into something … Read more

Remote-controlled beverage cooler keeps the party rolling

I'm not sure exactly who this beverage cooler is designed for. I mean, there's lazy, and then there is lazy. I imagine resting in a lawn chair or hammock, enjoying a nice adult beverage, when suddenly the need for a refill becomes apparent. Luckily, right by my side, there would be a cooler filled with refreshments. Which is what is confusing me--if I'm planning on being super lazy, why would the cooler be anywhere but right beside me? I wouldn't even get a chance to use the remote.

Be that as it may, I suppose there … Read more

A great home for good wine

If you enjoy wine, you've probably had the experience of juggling bottles--trying to find a place to keep all of your wine chilled, especially if you're having a few guests over. The Igloo Wine Cooler (holds eight bottles) may provide a solution to that problem. It's not so large that it can take over your kitchen when you aren't looking, but not so small that you can't keep a good number of wine bottles at just the right temperature.

The Igloo Wine Cooler is designed to sit on a counter-top, but it can also fit … Read more

Bottoms up! Lug heavy water bottles no more

The water cooler is a standard fixture in many homes and offices. It provides an easily accessible supply of pure, clean water--until the jug is empty and someone has to replace it. You know the drill: you either con a friend into helping you lift and lower the jug into position, or you do it on your own and deal with the backache that inevitably results. And then you grab a mop and clean up the spilled water that's all over the floor.

Haier's Aqua Fontana could be the solution to your problems--well, at least your water cooler … Read more

RC cooler for the world's laziest host

This may be the best way to deliver beverages since the "Flying Barstool."

The radio-controlled cooler can take the place of a poolside cabana boy and you won't even have to give it a tip. We suggest only sealed containers, however, not any fruity drinks that can easily spill their umbrellas.

There are other drawbacks: The cooler holds just six beverages and has a range of only 30 feet, according to GeekAlerts, so your guests will have to stay reasonably nearby whether you like it or not. But if you team it up with a beer-fetching RoombaRead more

Bag claims to cool laptops without a fan

This may sound a little far-fetched, but anyone who's suffocated a still-hot laptop in a zip-up sleeve might be interested to hear about a bag that cools its contents without the help of a fan. That, at least, is what Thermaltake claims its "iXoft Notebook Carrying Bag" can do.

The 15-inch bag uses "unique thermal shifting chemicals to spread heat out evenly across the pad," according to Fareastgizmos, which "melt into a gel state when heated and solidify into crystal state when cooled." Yes, it could well be an attempt to capitalize on … Read more
