Both T-Mobile and AT&T now have plans that "let" you pay an extra monthly cost to avoid a two-year contract and get a "free" phone upgrade after six months or a year, instead of two years. But both plans are essentially lease options that leave you, in the end, paying more than you'd pay if you bought the phones instead. And like your wise parents or banker friends always told you: Buying is better than leasing. So maybe what these plans will really do is finally, at long last, drive Americans into the … Read more
T-Mobile is shaking up the wireless industry yet again with a new device upgrade program announced Wednesday that is supposed to make it easier for its customers to upgrade to new devices.
The company's CEO John Legere said during a press conference in New York City, where the new plan called Jump was unveiled, that it's all about giving customers what they want. He bashed competitors, such as AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which have recently extended their device upgrade cycles to 24 months, which is the length of a typical handset contract.

PapiJump does a number of things right, but unfortunately does so in a way that often mimics other games in the niche. The result is a game that, while fun, is mostly derivative, and not nearly as good as its predecessors, which are also low cost or free. While higher-level content is engaging and unique, the time investment required to reach it is enough that many people will be turned off before they get there.
The basic concept of PapiJump should be familiar for anyone who has played Doodle Jump or Glow Jump (among others). Your character will automatically jump … Read more
The carrier on Wednesday unveiled new ads that feature former "Saturday Night Live" actor Bill Hader. The spots, available on YouTube, all tout T-Mobile's new program, dubbed Jump, that allows no-contract users to upgrade their phones anytime they want, whether it's day 181 of their plan or day 572.
One spot features Hader's character being one-upped by a friend who has version eight of a phone instead of version seven. In another, Hader's phone is smashed after being sat on by a large man at … Read more
NEW YORK -- T-Mobile announced a new device upgrade program for its no-contract customers Wednesday. The program allows these customers to get their hands on the latest and greatest phones at subsidized prices.
The upgrade program, called Jump, makes it easier for people to upgrade to new devices and pay a lower price instead of replacing their current devices at full price. To participate in the early upgrade program, customers will pay $10 a month. Customers can get their first upgrade after being enrolled in the program for six months. The company will then credit the remaining cost of the … Read more
T-Mobile could introduce an aggressive new phone-buying model on Wednesday that would let its no-contract customers upgrade to a new handset at subsidized pricing anytime they want, according to reports.
The upgrade program, which could be called Jump, would make it easier for people to pay a lower upgrade fee when replacing their current phones, rather than paying the full, retail price to switch.
CNET first learned of this concept in March, where CEO John Legere said it was still an idea that the carrier was tossing around.Catch our live coverage of T-Mobile's 'Boldest' news, Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT … Read more
For many of us, the video below of Matthew Gough falling 1,000 feet after his parachute malfunctioned during a BASE jump is like watching a common nightmare brought to life.
Remarkably, the video bears even more similarities to that horrible falling dream than first meets the eye, in that in the end, everything -- including 25-year-old Gough himself -- is just fine.
Rayman Jungle Run is an excellent single-touch control running game that keeps you on your toes as you try to collect all the coins (Lums) and attempt to complete perfect levels. The controls couldn't be any easier. Simply touch to jump and touch-and-hold to fly for a short period of time. But even with such easy controls, Rayman Jungle Run is incredibly challenging. Rayman runs automatically once you start a level, … Read more
Temple Run 2 is the sequel to one of the most popular running games on iOS devices, and it has just enough new features to make it an excellent follow-up.
As in the original Temple Run, you use swipe controls to run, turn, and jump as you explore a floating temple. But in Temple Run 2, you're no longer limited to right-angle turns. The path you follow has dips and rises and jogs left and right to make the game more visually interesting than the original. You also get some new methods of transportation, with zip lines that you … Read more
