Apple Remote Desktop Client 3.3.1 update breaks screen sharing

Some people who have applied the recent Remote Desktop Client 3.3.1 update have had problems with screen sharing between their Macs, with the connection being established properly but resulting in a blank window and no way to view the remote Mac.

Snow Leopard has only been on the shelves for a few hours, but many MacFixIt readers have written in to express their opinions, issues, and workarounds for Apple's latest operating system update.

Apple updates Aperture to 2.1.4

Apple has released the latest update to its professional photo editing software, Aperture. The update addresses import issues, MobileMe support issues, and issues with books.

Apple has released this KB Article noting the changes in the Aperture 2.1.4 update:

"This update addresses general compatibility, improves overall stability, and fixes a number of issues involving import, web publishing, and the creation and ordering of books. Aperture 2 users should apply this update." This update can be downloaded via Software Update on your Mac or by visiting Apple's Downloads page.

Snow Leopard changes how file and drive sizes are calculated

When you ask most non-geeks how many "bytes" are in a "kilobyte", after thinking about the root of the prefix "kilo" they might tell you "one thousand", and be both right and wrong at the same time.
