I'd Cap That+ adds even more funny to photos

I'd Cap That+ is the paid follow-up to the wildly popular, free caption-generating app I'd Cap That. For 99 cents, "+" offers the same crude humor of its predecessor, but adds a few features that many felt the original were missing.

Like its free counterpart, I'd Cap That+ is a novelty app that automatically generates hilarious, sometimes crude captions for your iPhone photos. Just fire it up, choose to either take a new photo or use an existing photo from your phone's gallery, and hit Use. After that, watch I'd Cap That slap a … Read more

Kid's Trololo YouTube tribute is a charmer

Eduard Khil was an unlikely YouTube star. The Russian singer inadvertently took the online world by storm with a delightfully schmaltzy singing performance of "I Am Glad 'Cause I'm Finally Returning Back Home" from 1976.

Khil passed away last month, but his legacy lives on. While there have been many new versions of what became known as the Trololo song, one young man's tribute is a particularly charming rendition.… Read more

So lololong, Mr. Trololo, and thanks for the laughs

If he didn't put you in stitches, only surgery could.

Russian crooner Eduard Khil, the subject of one of the most popular YouTube memes of recent years, passed away today at age 77, according to the Associated Press.

His gut-splitting 1976 performance of "I Am Glad 'Cause I'm Finally Returning Back Home" has racked up more than 12 million views since it became widely known on YouTube in 2010, eventually spawning countless parodies.

He was known online as Mr. Trololo due to the mighty yodeling crescendos of meaningless syllables he sang instead of the song's original lyrics. … Read more

I'd Cap That adds funny to photos

I'd Cap That is a novelty app that automatically generates hilarious, sometimes crude captions for your iPhone photos. Just fire it up, choose to either take a new photo or use an existing photo from your phone's gallery, and hit Use. After that, watch I'd Cap That slap a completely ridiculous and possibly humiliating caption under your mug (or your friend's). Most of the captions generated are pretty good at getting laughs, and many of them might even get shudders. See, the app often uses explicit and/or sexual language in its captions, so it comes … Read more

The 404 811: Where we pick a new Mayor of Cave Street (podcast)

The Internet already has jokes about the news of Osama's death and last night's subsequent broadcast, and someone already created a Google Maps location for Osama's compound on "Cave Street" with four pages of hilarious reviews. We also have a story a programmer living in Abbottabad, Pakistan that accidentally livetweeted the death of bin Laden, as well as more random topics like Tom Tom's privacy flub, the bacteria content of your steering wheel, and a Finger-nose stylus for your touch screen devices!

The 404 Digest for Episode 811

Osama's compound pops up on Google Maps, with reviews. Programmer unknowningly liveblogs the events in Pakistan. TomTom supplies driving data to police to set speed traps. The 404 768: Where Charlie Sheen WINS an Apple iPad 2 (podcast)

Apple will announce the next iPad 2 today, so imagine our surprise when all Wilson wants to talk about is Charlie Sheen joining Twitter! There may be hope for our Apple suckling fanboy just yet...

The rumors fluttering around the next iPad are growing, with the latest batch wondering about a MobileMe update that will allow streaming media to iOS devices.

This isn't the first time we've predicted this upgrade, but a new rumor claims that an Apple employee has said today's update will indeed allow all media including music, TV shows, and iTunes-purchased movies to stream in the cloud. Since you still can't iTunes on multiple computer libraries without a clever workaround, this could be a huge boon for the next iPad.

But you just want an iPad to consume news and watch movies, it may make more sense to either wait a month for a first generation iPad price drop or wait until the end of a year, when a third generation iPad may surface with more significant upgrades. Either way, we're done with the Apple rumor mongering for today.

Moving onto the more important news of the day (to Wilson), @CharlieSheen has finally joined the Twitterverse and is adding friends at an astonishing rate of 2,000 followers a minute.

Business developers, marketing professional, and public relations experts should take note of his social media strategy: your first tweet better have porn stars, or… Read more

Justin Bieber at snail's pace actually sounds good

Pre-teen girls think pop singer Justin Bieber is a musical sensation. The rest of the world basically considers him to be one chipmunk-cheeked, tow-headed Internet meme. The latest: somebody found that if you slow down Bieber's song "U Smile" to an eighth of its original speed, it sounds awfully trippy. And more than a little bit mesmerizing.

More specifically, the stretched-out song, clocking in at 35 minutes and 29 seconds, sounds like the ambient soundtrack to an edgy indie film set either in outer space or underwater and helmed by a director who's high on magic … Read more
